
Outer Worlds 2 Introduces 12 Skills for Players to Choose From in the Game

New details have emerged about Obsidian Entertainment's Outer Worlds 2, specifically about a dozen of the different skills available to player characters.
It's anticipated that Outer Worlds 2 will rectify issues people had with the first game, and folks are eagerly waiting for its release in 2025. It is now up to Microsoft and Obsidian to prove to gamers that the new title justifies the cost as it prepares for release. A central piece to share this information was the huge event on June 9.
This got players more hyped for the game. A major point shared was that users are able to choose from a minimum of 12 skills for their characters, as mentioned by Reddit user MissKatmandu. Like in the first game, these skills will be critical in determining how successful you are in different aspects of the game. For instance, if your character excels at stealth, you may be able to sneak past many opponents. If you are good at talking, you could get out of trouble by bluffing or through chatting well with other characters.
During the video stream reveal of Outer Worlds 2, a still image was captured displaying various skills and their corresponding levels. It appears that some of these skills have been altered from their original form in The Outer Worlds, with the number of skills decreasing from 18 to 12 in the new installment. The categories for 1-handed and 2-handed melee weapons have now been consolidated into a single melee category. Conversational skills such as Persuade, Lie, and Intimidate have been merged into one overarching Speech skill, reminiscent of Fallout: New Vegas.
Observation is a new skill that enables players to locate concealed portions and secret areas, adding to the player's capability. Midway through the discussion, there was a debate on the positive or negative impact of the skill changes. While others focused on how too much simplification, like collapsing all dialog skills into one speech, could be detrimental, there was consideration toward how the sneak skill would function under the new stealth system. One player expressed amusement over the Science skill, which is quite common in these types of games, being boosted to "Science."
Outer Worlds 2 has undergone many changes, and it remains to be seen how these shifts will impact the overall gameplay experience. Yet, it's quite a thing to see how the game has converted before it's out. Hopefully, it won't mess up the game's ability to build different player powers.
